Jennifer James, LCSW

I’m Jennifer James, LCSW, with over 20 years of experience in helping individuals navigate their unique life challenges.

I’m Jennifer James LCSW, with over 20 years of experience in helping individuals navigate their unique life-challenges. The process of finding healing and growth in the therapeutic experience is the objective. We will work as a team, in the therapeutic process, to achieve stability, emotional safety, learn the inner power of inspiration, and achieve goals that you desire to pursue. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I’m humbled and honored to accompany you on your journey. The healing process is our adventure ahead, focusing on restoring hope, self-confidence, personal power/control, individualizing and increasing well-being. I am accepting new patients.

As a therapist, published author, activist, and motivational speaker, my passion is to see the healing process come alive and lead to emotional strength and success in my patients. My clinical expertise and specialties include: Generalized Anxiety/Depression, Addiction, Bipolar Disorder Management, Grief Counseling, Divorce/Singles/Dating issues, Faith-Transitions, Spiritual Trauma, Gender Dysphoria, Shame/Guilt issues, and Phase-of-Life issues (including new motherhood/post-natal adjustments, aging, job loss, marriage dissatisfaction, loss of spouse, etc.)

In my personal life, I’m a passionate advocate for equality, individuality, celebrating self-worth, strengthening identity and uniqueness, and finding contentment in our chaotic world. As a motivational speaker, I’ve traveled from Alaska to Washington D.C. to reduce the shame/blame/guilt of “perfectionism” and scrupulosity among LDS singles who have been marginalized and disenfranchised in their communities. For those who are divorced, my book “Latter Day Divorce and Beyond: Surviving Singlehood” (Cedar Fort, 2006) is available on Amazon. My Welsh roots taught me my love of music, singing, performance, and playing guitar/piano, and my Irish roots gave me the joy of riding horses, loving dogs, and humor. Genealogy is my most frustrating hobby, and crocheting (I’m the 4th generation working the hook!) calms me. Family is a complicated joy that teaches me how fragile, precious, necessary, and important our tribes are! Lastly, I would enjoy working with you here at Healing Steps!
